WIC官网关于仁川站比赛的报道:
Joey Mantia is challenging the Champion
Joey Mantia and Yann Guyader...
Incheon, 11 May 2013: Another big show-down between Joey Mantia (SIMMONS-SCHÄNKEL, USA) and Yann Guyader (EOSkates World Team, FRA) is the opener for this year's World Inline Cup season here in South Korea. After being defeated in the 2012 WIC Final in Jeonju, this is the opportunity for the French World and World Inline Cup Champion to take revenge. "It is always exciting to race against Joey," he said during the media presentation today, and his 2013 results so far look very promising.
Joey Mantia has spent the winter on ice making his debut at the ISU World Cup. After a month's break he is now back in the streets. Today in Incheon he commented: "I feel in pretty good shape without too much of inline-specific training. I am really looking forward to tomorrow's race against Yann. It will right away show me where I stand." All of this with a weather report foreseeing perfect conditions for the first international marathon of the year that is started at 9:30 a.m. local time on Sunday.
Joey Mantia too strong in Korea
Incheon, 12 May 2013: Joey Mantia (SIMMONS-SCHÄNKEL, USA) beats Yann Guyader (EOSkates World Team, FRA) at the Incheon World Inline Cup in Korea. Completing the podium was Nolan Beddiaf (EOSkates World Team, FRA). The ladies race was an all Korean affair after Guo Dan (CHN) and Nicole Begg (NZL) needed to withdraw short notice because of injuries: Kim MiYoung won followed by Lee SolYi and Yoo GaRam.
Although he said he was not so happy with his technique on wheels after a full season on ice, Joey Mantia was controlling the race from beginning to end. "I was feeling physically very strong and enjoyed the competition throughout. It is always good to be in Korea especially when the weather is as nice as it is today." The gusty wind did not seam to be a factor for the skaters and several attacks and small break-aways always found an answer. Finally the full pack arrived together at the finish area in a big sprint decision, that saw the US-American with the strongest legs.
The World Inline Cup is now moving to Europe with the next event being held in Rennes (France) on 26 May 2013.
